Our facilities

Our spacious 700 sq. ft communal studio enjoys wonderful natural light and views over the Rochdale Canal. In addition to the main studio space there are separate kiln, glaze and mould store rooms plus a library, kitchen and coffee area. Outside, we have areas for raku firing plus a small enclosed yard at the rear, which provides a sunny social space in the summer!

The pottery is located on the first floor of the building which we share with Dovetail Joinery. The front entrance, with its small parking area, is conveniently situated between the main Burnley Road and the adjacent Rochdale Canal. A ground level entrance at the rear also provides full wheelchair access with disabled toilet facilities. In addition to designated parking on-site there is free public parking nearby.

The first-floor entrance area provides a space to exhibit member’s work, alongside a permanent display of work by the pottery’s founder David Constantine White (1948-2011). There is a short history of the pottery and its position within the tradition of ceramics in the area.

Equipment includes both front and top loading kilns, a small electric test kiln, a raku kiln, a range of wheels, a large slab roller, extruders, glaze mixers, wet cupboard etc plus purpose-built, heavy duty work benches and a wide range of small tools.

All members have open access to the Pottery and all of its facilities, including their own dedicated shelf space and secure locker. We keep a stock of our most popular clays and glazes and members often arrange communal purchase of more individual specialist materials.

The collective shared expertise of our members is perhaps our major asset and all can rely upon working within a welcoming and supportive environment.
